Speak Your Truth #1 – 2007 – K. Ward Collection (Giclees & Prints Available)

This painting is the first in the series. She is bold, wearing her tattoo proudly; she has depth of character as her hair represent thoughts, ideas and deeds that have brought her to the current place of personal power. She says what she knows to be right, yet she is beautiful in that she would never say anything that would injure others. What she says is true and kind, which comes from experiencing all that life has for her.

Warrior Woman #2 – 2007 – K. Ward Collection (Giclees & Prints Available)

Sensual and bold, she is not afraid to stand up for herself. She is an open book so to speak, what you see is what is there. She can face any challenge with clarity and the knowledge that the thing fought for is worth the battle. She has her tattoos, they are the symbols of her moments of valor, and she has earned them. She is respected by the world as being the right gal for the job; whatever it may be due to her courage and ability to do the right thing in the face of any opponent.

Saint With An Add-A-Bead Necklace #3 – 2007

The saint has the blueness of a contemplative life. She praises God and is dedicated to His service. She is surrounded by stained glass windows that glorify her sainthood. The Add-A-Bead Necklace comes from an experience in my life. Years ago, my Mother was given a gift from my sister, a chain that you could add gold beads to as an ongoing gift. I too jumped on the opportunity to build on that gift until my Mother had a complete gold bead necklace. The thought of giving a gift consistently that someone really wanted touched me in a profound way. Isn’t that what gifting is all about? Giving something that another person not only wants but also needs to nourish the soul?

Green Lady #4 – 2007

Sparkle and shine girlfriend! What can I say, this painting reminds me of the singer Cher. I could see Cher having a wig made of this hair and wearing it proudly to accept yet another award. She has a sense of style all her own. Her direct gaze upon us all is a testament to her confidence.

Never Let ‘Em See You Cry #5 – 2008

While going through a particularly difficult time in my life I felt like crying all the time, I know my soul was busy being very sad from the pain. Yet, I carried on, went to work, painted and did not bother telling anyone about my pain. You wouldn’t want all the judgment on you as your friends and family try to fix the problem. Those big eyes tell it all, watching out for anything else that might injure a person. The painting has all the movements around the pain that helps a person make sense out of the situation. The things that heal; color, flow, reason, relief and then onto health.

Dr. Reo Leslie #6 – 2007

Have you ever had someone that believed in you? Someone that saw something in you that you couldn’t even see in yourself? That was Dr. Leslie.  While going to art college, he saw something in me and my work that drove me on to be better than I even thought I could be here’s to you Dock, thanks so much.

Copper Lady #7 – 2007

Copper Lady is really a tattoo. She is into heavy metal. While thinking about the drug culture and the treatment of this huge epidemic, I was thinking how maybe these people do not realize how very wonderful they are and what contributions they could make if they were not so distracted from the world. She is contemplative, and looking into herself, now that is where real healing starts.

Praise God #8 – 2007

Ecstasy! One lifts one’s face to the heavens in sheer joy of knowing they are one with God and the universe.

Garden of Thoughts #9 – 2007 – Charlie Perez – Giclee, Collection

Cultivating and tending to one’s thoughts and ideas is an art. This gal loves to get her thoughts in order, make sure she is thinking the right thing because as we all know, thoughts come before action. We will always do the right thing.

Reclining Woman #10 – 2007 – Dawn Perez - Collection

Fist glance at this work and you wonder what the heck are you looking at, then the realization that you are looking at the top of the lovely lady's head in repose. I got this idea from a trip to Las Vegas and the billboard I saw of the Phantom of the Opera.

She Doesn’t Know She is Beautiful #11 – 2007

Here we have a raging beauty but she doesn’t know it, in fact she thinks that she is the average girl. She is an introvert and an observer of the world, cautious about the next step. Sensitive about all that is around her. She wears a shawl that her Grandmother lovingly made for her over her head to hide herself from the judgments of others, not realizing that others may think she is wonderful.

Sun Canvases 1 & 2 #12 – 2007
He radiates so brightly that he has to close his own eyes! He has thoughts of light and love for the world.  He is so big, it took two canvases and still the illumination cannot be fully expressed.

Love Talk #13 – 2007

Falling in love seems so right. The couple is talking to one another, she is talking about feelings, passions and ideas, and he is talking about passions, sex and how this is going to happen shortly. They are deluded to the fact that they are on different wavelengths. Only after the hormones have realigned themselves to sanity will they really be able to know if they are right for each other.

Wrapped in the Universe #14 – 2007

Our lady here is deliciously covering herself with the night sky. She is thinking about the expansiveness of the universe. It is awesome to realize one is such a tiny part of the grand scheme of things. It is comforting to know one has a place, without you the universe wouldn’t be complete.

Beautiful thoughts #15 – 2007

There are so many things to think about. Wouldn’t that be a day in heaven if you could think about all the stuff? How things work, what great painters there have been and are in the world. How about that new grandchild that just came into the world? What adventures he will have during his lifetime? What about his mother, so smart and capable, with unmet dreams still waiting to unfold… Oh, the thoughts could go on and on and on…

Green Man #16 – 2007

Now this is a guy every one of us has met. He has the ‘come on’ smile with an assured wink. He will tell you what he thinks you want to hear in order to get what he wants. Not to say that what he has to offer isn’t what everybody wants, but beware, you might get something other than what was bargained for.

Abundance #17 – 2008

Abundance is so full of life and fun. She has a big smile and big hair. All the stuff that is needed to accomplish the goals she has for herself, and she doesn’t mind sharing the wealth. Come join her in the rich life with all the abundance of the world.

Clouds With Silver Lining #18 – 2007

Wouldn’t we all love to have only good things happen to us? And indeed good things do happen to all of us. The place of gratitude and the deep knowledge that everything is as it should be. All will be right with the world is what she is saying.

Red & Yellow, Black & White, They are Precious in His Sight #19 – 2007

This painting started out in a study of the four directions; the inclusion of all there is and as I was painting, I remembered the song from my youth. How true it is. We are all precious to God and we are all connected.

The Zone #20 – 2008

Have you ever met a guy that was in his own world – hey every one of them! This guy puts it out there, and by golly we better know what he is thinking. He has great thoughts and ideas but little compartments surround his thoughts. How do you get around that?

You Have No Idea What I’m Thinking #21 – 2008

This little beauty is on her way to church. Everything is in place, hair and outfit. That ought to impress them. But looks are only skin deep. She is thinking about that guy that spilled coffee on his new suit, being so nervous at being in the presence of such beauty, and the older woman that pointed out that she has on too much makeup (that little stab to keep her in her place). It is pretty interesting how the world takes a person. Little do they know she just invented the cure for the common cold.

Glamour Girl #22 – 2008

The glamour girl is looking over her shoulder and batting her eyes, who could resist that? When you are up close to the painting you will see the colors clearly, there is violet in there. Then when you stand back from the painting the color violet then becomes brown. It is a little play with color theory. Also a testament to the fact that sometimes things are not what they appear to be.

Face of Flowers #23 – 2007

Happy, Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy, Joy!!! There is nothing so fun as sharing your happiness and joy with your friends and family.

Thinking Beauty #24 – 2007

There is nothing like a purple day. My professor, Opps, would have wrapped my hand with a paintbrush if I ever said purple. He would correct my color name to say violet. He said that I had to earn the right to use color. So rebelliously when it came time to paint self-portraits I dyed my hair violet and wore violet cloths to class. Ha, he went running down the hall exclaiming that he was cursed with a defiant student.

Dual Personality #25 – 2007

How about wanting something so bad yet not wanting it either. Like going to the dentist. You want that great smile but you do not want to sit in that dentist chair to get it. How about a person making a decision about something and then having the audacity to change their mind? My sister came up with a saying many years ago, she said, “I am immense, I contain multitudes.” Here’s to you my beloved sister!

All That Jazz #26 – 2008

My boss tells me that my paintings remind her of Marti Gras. Does this mean that it is time to party? This gal parties with intent. Nothing is so fun as the opportunity to get dressed up for a special event, knowing you are the center of attention! Look at me, she says.

I See You #27 – 2008 – Giclee Only

She is looking out from under the safety of her hair. Indeed, she sees clearly what is going on!

The Idea Man #28 – 2008 – Giclee Only

The man with all the ideas – you got an issue – he has the plan. He is organized and blessed with the ability to get it all together. He is the guy that makes you feel that you can do it. He sees all the elements of the problem and the perfect solution to that problem. He is the ‘go to’ guy.

Shaman #29 – 2008 Giclee Only

The Shaman can see the things we mere mortals are forbidden to see. If you look into his eyes, it is obvious what the malady is and what it would take to overcome the malady. He says, “I see that you have a present from a friend that has brought you sorrow,” Your thinking that bunch of roses you just got from your lover brought you delight, what is he talking about? You find out later that your lover bought a truckload of roses for all his loves. You think, ‘I gotta pay attention to this Shaman!’

Pencil Attitude #30 – 2008

The painting has four pencils, each with a different face or attitude. Sometimes one is happy, sad, fearful, joyful…it is reflected in one’s work I am told. Funny though, I find that I can be in the most difficult place in my thinking and emotions then set down to paint and end up producing the most colorful, joyful work. Yes, creating is a healing process for some and I am grateful that I have been given this gift.

Reflections #31 – 2008

There are always two sides to every situation. Sometimes we feel that there is no compromise, but if given enough care we find most people are talking about the same thing. When I look in the mirror I see the same person every time, but how could that be when I feel so different each day?

Face of the Butterfly #32 – 2008

With the emergence of the butterfly from the chrysalis comes the potential of great delicacy and beauty. Here we have a microscopic view of the butterfly’s face about to meet the world and what a wonderful world it is. What direction should I go, what adventures will I have?

Ouch #33 – 2008 – Giclee Only

Being a psychotherapist I have heard a tremendous amount of pain in this world. Sometimes I wish I had a giant band-aid to put on the pain so it could be protected in order to heal.

The Wave #34 – 2008

Sometimes in life one feels they are caught up in the wave of things. Thoughts moving in and out of the situation knowing that you have no power or control over things present or to come. Even if you could control the situation, does one really want to? Especially when the outcome is uncertain. The best one can do is observe and allow the thoughts to flow in and over the situation until the wave reaches the shore.

Chaos #35 – 2008

Here we go! The heavy winds that swirl thoughts, ideas and actions moving all around her. She sees the events taking place all around her and would like to step out and shout, “Stop the world, I want to get off!” But little does she know that she is in the eye of the tornado, safe. She must discipline herself to stay focused on the fact that the events surrounding her have nothing to do with her. She must remain a witness and allow the dust to settle before she steps out.

My Mom #36 – 2007 – Marjorie Windecker - Collection

Every time I finish a painting I rush over to my mother’s house to share it with her. She is my biggest fan. She said one day, “You should try to make a painting with black and white.” My paintings are so colorful that she probably wanted color relief. Thus, her portrait in black, white and gray, except the ruby red lipstick. Armed with a tube of the ruby red, Mom is the kind of gal that has to put lipstick on several times a day or she is not fully dressed for the world. Also, due to her wisdom her thoughts are not yellow, but gold.

Breathe #37 – 2008

Breathe deeply in – hold – breathe out slowly. Breathe deeply in – hold – breathe out slowly. Breathe deeply in – hold – breathe out slowly. Now that we are centered, we can meditate. So, we let thoughts flow through us, not attaching to any one of them. Clear the mind. Our lady here is in the form of a g. G is for God.

Passion for Color #38 – 2008

Now this is heaven, to be surrounded by a swirl of shapes and color! Color so rich you could just taste and smell it! She is wrapped in her most beloved violet with yellow and gold. The colors manifest themselves around her to bring her delight and beauty.

Giant Tears #39 – 2008

They say tears are the cleanser for the soul. Indeed, sometimes a good cry will validate ones distress and clear out the pain. The things one forgets is when the tears are flowing there is a light at the end of it. Gees, you can’t stay sad forever, someone is going to come along and make you laugh. The sun will shine once again, even brighter than before the storm.

Super Star # 40 – 2008

Star bright, star light, might I have my wish tonight? “Yes, you may,” our little star replies, you may have and will receive everything wished for on this earth. Some wishes are true and good, some wishes are mean and vengeful. What ever, you always get what you radiate out.

Best friends #41 – 2008

There is nothing in this world like a best friend. Wrapped in each other’s cares and joys. Sharing thoughts, ideas, triumphs, and sorrows. How about attending graduations, births, weddings, Kivas and funerals. Coffee, cigarettes and long conversations. This painting is for all my best friends. You know who you are Marge, Barbara, Jennifer, Katz, Sharon, Mary, Jenny, Vicky, Diane, Julie, Kathy, Roberta, Deb…

Man of Time #42 – 2008 – Charlie Perez - Collection

Have you ever met someone that came into this world just knowing something? This guy could tell time before he could talk or read. He is very sensitive to time and how everything is in balance in the world. He is a thinker and tinkerer. Always fascinated with how things work. Here is to you Charlie.

Construction Man #43 – 2008

Sitting in my home, just feeling full of gratitude for all the construction workers out there. Think about all the hard work and designing to bring beautiful, safe, and cozy spaces for us to live in. Bring on the bricks and we will build!!

Sandy #44 – 2008

Being a part of all that is and all that ever will be. There is a saying I once heard about being a grain of sand on the beach. One little grain of sand in a beach of about a trillion, billion, million other grains of sand is what we are. Sometimes that grain of sand catches the light just right and sparkles. Sometimes that grain of sand gets swept out to sea. Sometimes that grain of sand gets pushed around, stepped on, and scoped up to make a glorious sand castle. And you thought a grain of sand just lies there. Ha!

Light Beam #45 – 2008 -  Jennifer Young Collection

Ever meet someone that at the moment of her birth you realized that you were looking at the light of the world? This is her. She is intelligent, beautiful, and of a good spirit. Everyone who gets to be around her is blessed and touched by her presence. This is her place in the world, to be a blessing to others and what is the best about it is that she is totally unaware of her mission as it is such a part of her there is no conscious effort on her part. I sit in a place of gratitude that I get to be a part of her life. Here is to you Jennifer.

Surfing The Rainbow #46 – 2008

I went to a seminar one winter and the group did a guided meditation. The visualization was to immerse oneself in each color of the rainbow and when we have reached the top of the rainbow there waiting for you was the person that loved you the most in your life. Oh, what a glorious thing to manifest in one’s psyche. What, with wallowing in the rich vibrant color AND the loving presence of another.  How that is living!!

Pathfinder #47 – 2008

In life we make little decisions everyday. These decisions determine what path our life will take. This lady illustrates that there are many paths that all lead to our dreams, hopes and desires. In spite of ourselves, we always end up where we need to be, when we need to be there. Like my friend used to say, “God is always right on time.”

The Black Hole #48 – 2008

Recently it has been discovered that there is a huge Black hole in our galaxy. The images sent back to earth from probes revealed that the Black Hole’s gravitational pull sucks in everything around it then spews material back out through it’s center at the speed of light thus, recreating new galaxies. Much like ourselves, reinventing ourselves as we suck in experiences. We are not who we were even a day ago. We grow, we learn, we create our own realities, and we live on.

Related # 49 – 2008 –  K. Ward Collection– Giclee Available

Mother, child, sisters, brothers, it is nice to know that there is someone in the world that kind of looks like you. Provides a sense of place in the world. In my family, we have a strong female line. My mom looks like her mother, I look like my mother, and my daughter looks like me. You have no doubt that we are related. In a much broader sense, we are all children of God. Beautiful, talented, and fabulous!

The Aura #50 – 2008

How far out does ones aura go? Some people say they can see a person’s aura, I never could. But, you always know when someone is present; you can feel them before you see them. Just wondering if this presence is their aura or spirit that meets you before you can even see them? This beauty sends out her beautiful presence before her for us to see.

The Up Side Down Kiss #51 – 2008

This painting reminded me of a wonderful moment from my childhood, I will share it with you. When I was little my sister and I would lay up side down in the bed and stare in each other’s eyes, roar with laughter, and get yelled at to quiet down and go to sleep. Ha, now that is a fun perspective to have of another person!

Earrings #52 – 2008

In my neighborhood we have a store that has an earring-o-rama display. These earrings are the most gaudy, huge, colorful sets of earrings around. BLING, BLING! It is so fun to sport such a treasure. When I see someone (including myself) wearing a pair of the loudest, brightest earrings I have to smile, cause you know the gal is feeling good about herself.

Electricity #53 – 2008

Have you ever met someone that sparks you up from the first time you meet them. These are the people that sparkle and shine. You know that they are the kind of people that generate action, it is fun to see them do their thing, and it inspires us, entertains us and makes us love life just a little bit better. Our lady here radiates with that kind of electricity, how attractive is that?

The Mask #54 – 2008

Remember playing peek-a-boo with a baby. They delight so when they realize the real you has reappeared. I think the same thing is true through out our lifetime, as we grow older we know when someone is putting on a mask in front of his or her true feelings. Heck, you can’t fool us, we know there is something deeper going on and we would surely be honored if we could see the real ‘you’.

Devotion # 55 – 2008

Every day I find time for praying and meditating (sometimes there are prayers through out the entire day). The prayer starts off with gratitude, honoring, and just plain telling God everything that is on my mind. God and I are tight like that. I feel naked if I step out into the world not spending a few minutes with my Higher Power. Our devotee here is humbly participating in that important relationship with God.

Ruminating #56 – 2008

Have you ever had a thought or a dilemma that gets replayed in your mind? Boy, I have. It makes me have to laugh at myself for putting myself through that stuff. You keep thinking about a thing like you are going to solve it somehow, only to realize that you are the only one thinking about it, no new information comes in. Heck, if you could have fixed it early on you wouldn’t be thinking about it over and over. Our lady here is thinking about the same thing over and over, but notice that as the thoughts go on they get further away from her. Letting go of the thought and the situation just might be the solution to the dilemma

APB #57 – 2008

This gal is sending out an All Points Bulletin. What she has to say is so important that she is broadcasting loud and clear. Her thoughts and words reach across the whole earth. “You are so loveable! God loves you! You are the Best of the universe! You are talented and creative! You are beautiful! You are abundant and full of life! ...” Can’t you just hear her?

The Message #58 – 2008

Couldn’t tell you how many prayers and positive thoughts have gone out to the universe on behalf of one another. We have prayed hard and true for our friends and family over the years and with such wonderful results. God always hears us, always loves us and provides protection and care. Our beautiful lady here is sending out such a message of good cheer and hope that all will be well no matter where we are or what circumstances arise in our lives.

Shock Wave #59 – 2008

Nothing like having a drama happen in life that just rocks your world. Knocks you off center. It takes some doing to get things back in balance again. What kind of things shock and rock us? The heavy hitter is betrayal, now that is where a person becomes a true victim. Trying to pick up the pieces and move on is a challenge, but is doable. Takes lots of time, compassion, love and kindness to heal a wound like that.

Patience #60 – 2008
While sitting patiently with a wounded friend in a hospital waiting room for five hours I drew this image. It took another three hours to get a diagnosis. Listening and observing sick and wounded people arriving in the hospital waiting room with their loved ones, their brows knit with concern, tempers flaring due to the long wait. Some of them diverted their attention to what I was quietly doing. Some of the comments were, “That is a really good drawing, you should do something with that” or “My brother is an artist”. I just smile inside, talk about art and kept drawing to help us get through the wait. Wow, something so beautiful as her coming out of a difficult situation.

Enough #61 – 2008

Is there ever enough? This girl thinking she has but a little. Then as the thoughts of gratitude go out to the universe, she is reminded of other things she has been blessed with. Fresh air, clean cloths, a full tummy, a friendly smile, people she calls her own, a car that runs, nice cozy bed to sleep in… The list goes on. She then realizes indeed, she has such an abundant life; her gratitude list goes on and on. Yes indeed, she has more than enough.

Stuck #62 – 2008

Have you ever felt stuck in a blue sort of way? Boy, our lady here does. She is thinking how does she get out of this mess? Her best thinking isn’t going to get her out of this dilemma. She is going to have to call for help. “HELP”!! There is plenty of it out there. I hope she is able to see, hear, and accept it when it comes. Aid is on its way.

Locked In #63 - 2008

That’s it we are not budging! We will keep ourselves safe and secure in what we believe is the truth. Good thing our guy here has snaps on his armor, easy to be removed. But, we must ask permission first before we help him get going again.

Points Of View #64 - 2008

You just told her blah, blah and she knows you want her to take your side on the issue. While you are pontificating she turns her head sideways. Now that she has your attention, she lets you know there is another point of view on the issue. Might as well let her have her say if she is going to put her neck out like that.

Hope, Love & Charity #65 - 2008

In doing an experiment for a period of time by giving everyone within my knowing a present I learned a great deal. In the Jewish tradition they talk about a thing called bread of shame which very simply put means that a person thinks they need to earn what they receive. I found that overall this is true, people need to have a reason they receive a gift. On the other side, the gift giver then deals with their own ego in the giving. I learned quite a bit about charity. I learned too a gift given in love is so well received. They say without love a person cannot have hope, faith or charity. I have a feeling this is true.

The Gathering # 66 – 2008

In my profession many symposiums and trainings are attended. It is so wonderful to be with people that share your interests and are on your same wavelength. I get so excited when I get to meet authors of books and theories I have devoured and cherished. Humbly and gratefully exchanging thoughts and ideas with my peers and mentors. One of my previous bosses said, trying to deal with a group of therapists is like trying to heard cats. Ha, I have to laugh; I am one!

Mother Earth #67 - 2008

I was born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I long for the mountains of my youth, as I always know where I am when I am in Colorado. Have you ever gazed at a mountain range and mused at how they look like a person laying down on the land? Our Mother Earth here shows us it is true. There is a spirit of the land.

Sun Goddess #68 - 2008

Here we have the Goddess of the Sun. She radiates out upon the universe her enormous energy and light. We bask in her glory and realize without her there would be no light. No light, no seeing, no color, no warmth. Thank you Goddess for shining brightly and giving us a beautiful radiant life.

Exposed #69 - 2008

Have you ever had a situation suddenly reveal itself? It is like it was there all the time, just in the next room. For some reason you just choose not to look in that particular room. You pull back the curtain then, wowwy kazowy; it was something that really rocked your world. This is what is going on for our guy here. He was happy in his naivety. Now that he knows this secrete he must face it. Hope he has plenty of hankies and love around to deal with it.

Contemplation #70 – 2008 – K. Ward Collection – Giclee Available

Our lady here sits, contemplating about all kinds of things. Sometimes when a person has to ponder on things it is best done alone in the corner of one’s room. You may ask, what is she thinking about? Well, to begin with she thinks about that last encounter she had with you where you told her about the trials and tribulations you are experiencing or how great you were doing, she smiles. She sees great potential where challenges may exists. She is fascinated how things unfold in life and wonders what is next.

Flower Petals #71 - 2008

Here we have a close up view of a beautiful flower. Yep, there are faces in there. These little fellows are so happy to be a part of something so beautiful and fragrant. They are saying, “Pick me, Pick me.” There is something wonderful about being selected, cherished and wanted by someone.

The Office #72 – 2008 – Cheryl Chapman Collection - Giclee

Everyone is in his or her perspective work area with his or her in/out boxes. It is amazing how each worker has their set of duties to perform which is very different from each other yet it benefits the business as a whole. If one person is missing the whole system bogs down. Sometimes we see our co-workers as being just the duties they perform. We say stuff like, there is the copy guy or there is the computer geek, or here is the form guru. We sometimes forget the people we work with have a name and a sacred delicate spirit within.

Queen # 73 - 2008

There can be only one Queen of the territory and here she is. Crowned with glory and majesty we are in awe of her. She is the ruler of all her realm. With great power, comes great responsibility (a quote from the Spider Man movie). Queens are born into royalty, the people elect some Queens, and some are ordained by victories won. There are Queens of the household. Then there are the Queens for a day on the TV. Which one are you?

Night Dancer #74 - 2008

Dancing under the light of the silvery full moon and the sparkle of the Milky Way our dancer feels energized and alive. She is wrapped in her dancing shawl. She dances for the sheer joy of it. She dances for gratitude. She dances for all that came before her and those who will come. She honors Grandmother Moon.

Dream Time # 75 - 2008

Dreaming of line, shape, and color. The dreamer is engulfed with swirls of beauty and light. When I have a dream like this it brings great delight. Somehow dreams such as this help with ideas and compositions I am trying to figure out when I’m awake. Have a little dream and it seems the problem rights itself. Surrounded by a swirl of beauty sets one right for the world. She wakes up with a skip in her step and a light heart, not remembering she was prepared for the day by the rejuvenation of the dream.

The Talisman #76 - 2008

Talismans are created for many reasons. Some people carry a rabbit’s foot, a lucky coin, a rock, and/or pictures of a loved one. They think the object is imbued with special powers that will either ward off disaster or bring in a multitude of positive things their way. This lady wears her talisman proudly; she can feel the power and energy going forth before her. Sporting her golden talisman protects her as she travels through the world.

ire Storm #77 - 2008

Where I come from the grasslands and forests need a good fire every once in a while. This burning away of dead plants and debris clears the land for a fresh generation of healthy new growth. This is true of the human spirit as well. Sometimes in ones life the burning away of old ways and thoughts helps a person clear the way for new and better ways of thinking and doing.

Father #78 – 2008 – Jennifer Young Collection

My daughter is such a gifted and talented writer. She wrote a novel called ‘Fleeing Father’ she asked if I would paint the cover for her book. What an honor she bestowed upon me. I am humbled as I realize that I cannot begin to do justice to her work. As I read her book, even though it is fiction, I realized that she is the voice for many, many generations of fathers that were not there for the women in my family. I cried from the very weight of that truth. I laughed at her sensitivity and humor she so boldly shared with the world. You go girl!!!

Diamond #79 - 2008

Sometimes just playing with shapes, lines and colors brings such joy. This painting is an example of this. I like the way the painting is balanced with a diamond framing the two faces in the center. The color choices are deep and rich.

Three Faces #80 - 2008

Bold and present here we have three faces seeing eye to eye. They have the same way of operating in the world. They look alike, they think alike and they sound alike. There is no conflict as they fit in with the statue quo. Now if everyone were alike we would have no arguments or war. Every disagreement I have ever had was because people did not agree with me or see things my way. Course if they did, life would be pretty boring.

Head & Heart #81 - 2008

This guy is projecting his truth into the world. He has examined his thoughts, honors his gut feelings and knows what he has to say is the truth for him. There is a truth in the therapy business which says when your head and your heart match you are on the right track.

The Choir # 82 - 2008

A choir of beauitful voices. They are crowned with halos and wear the same outfits. It just gives me chills when a hear a choir sing due to the sweet beauty of it. Voices in harmony, notes ringing out loud and clear. And, oh, how about when our children get on a stage and sing together. Just brings tears to us parents eyes how sweet and talented our children can be.

Swimming #83 - 2008

There is nothing so refreshing as a nice swim. I love the feeling of being surrounded and supported by water. So relaxing the water is. It drains our stress away. Horay for H2O.

Autumn #84 - 2008

The land cools as the wind brings in another season. Just as our great thoughts and ideas of only a month ago have had time to ripen, fruit and be consumed one way or another; they are either put into action or they disapate into the universe. Wrapped in our cozy jackets we wait to see if our actions will be of value. From experience, if my thoughts are about professionalism, care, and/or love my actions last through the winter.

Slumber #85 - 2008

While driving to work one day I saw this beauty in the clouds overhead. I stopped the car and stared at length as the image facinated me. Laying on her celestrial blanket and engulfed by the sky she rests in comfort and peace. Now that is gotta be a very good nights sleep.

Meeting Of The Minds #86 - 2008

Oh what a beauitful thing when there is a meeting of the minds. These four beauties have met in the middle and have agreed on an issue. There is nothing like having a group of people rallying together for a cause. One person with a great idea is good, two better, three, there is something going on, and four, now you have a dynamic force to get the job done.

Road Trip #87 - 2008

Sunglasses, a flowy scarf, the top down on the convertible and away we go! With the wind in her face she feels free and happy. She can go anywhere she so desires. What places she will go; what things will she see; what will she do?

Listening #88 - 2008

They say the best part of the conversation is listening. As the story begins to unfold one has a tendancy to start thinking about some related experience one has had instead of putting all aside and really listening. At first things may seem a little off, but as the talker goes on then the ideas take shape and everything is made clear. Turns out that the person has some really neat thing that has to be brought to light.

Death #89 - 2008

Three deaths very close together. My heart is broken. Thinking to myself, pain, intense pain. Saddness intense saddness. Wanting to put a vail over my head so people cannot see the pain and tears on my face. Grief does that to a person. Some people say that when you die God and you do a life review. I think we do that as well as represented by the ribbon around the head of this griever, remembering every encounter one has had with the individual that has passed. The Chaplin said that dying is a part of living, that part that lets us know that we are capable of great love & great sorrow.

Peace #90 - 2008

People of my generation were dedicated to peace and love. They had a tendancy to call their children names like Flower, Moonbeam, Star and such. Honoring the earth and thinking we could live as one. Our guy here is meditating to maintaine the peace movement started so long ago.

A Lot Going On #91 - 2008

There is always a lot going on in one’s life. Work, home and family, hobbies, and such. When life has so much happening at the same time our lady here looks up to the heavens for guidance and the where-with-all to get everything done.

Tying The Knot #92 – 2008 – Charlie Perez Collection - Giclee

There is so much more to a kiss than simply lips touching. Somehow it changes us. The human chemistry is altered and rearragned. Our couple here must come together with the promise of forever, exchanging vows, cementing the relationship. With a couple of “I Do’s” the arrangement is made. The journey begins.

Tessellation #93 – 2008 – James Doty Collection

I have always been facinated with tessellations. This painting is no where near some of the perfections I have seen but it is an attempt to get the idea out there. It is amazing how one form or design fits into another so perfectly. The interlocking of forms attesting to the fact that we need each and every one of us to create a world, community, and society in which we live.

Devotees #94 - 2008

There are some cults that require total adoration of the leader. That is what is going on here. This group of people is following a leader without question. No questions other than, ‘how can I serve you?’ are uttered. No mouths to say a thing, no open eyes to see a thing. I never could understand that kind of devotion to a person, place or thing. But then again I do not consider myself a spiritual giant either. Maybe it is easier to believe in someone you can see, hear and touch.

Exuberance #95 - 2008

Kick up your heels and dance girl! She has become one with the sound of the music. She feels the freedom to move as far and wide as it takes to express herself, now this is a fun time. She dances with such joy and enthusiasm!

The End Of This Journey #96 - 2008

Yes, this is the 96th canvas exploring the Adventures Into The Psyche. Not much more can be said that was not said before. The only other thing might be is that this life is a celebration of the totality of God’s creation in us. Thank you for traveling with me. May God Bless and keep you always my friend. Take Care.

Blue Blood # 97 - 2008

There are people born into a world of privilege and prestige. I look at them and see a human being with all the material things that let us know they can afford such treasures. There is something wonderful about having the means to do anything you want to do in this world. And I am told that they have special blood as well. Having not seen it I can only imagine what that might look like, so here it is.

Tranquility # 98- 2008

This painting reminds me of being in the state of tranquility. No worries as events and situations go smoothly in our lives. Our lady here has the right color the right shape, and the right impression. That space that lets you know all is well.

Harvest # 99- 2008

Here we have a garden of people thriving and surviving under the sun. Amazing how much growth and development one can have under the right conditions. Good food, water, and sunlight. Not to mention a good foundation being grounded in the right soil.

Transformation #100- 2008

We talk of transforming ourselves from time to time. This lady here is having a vision of transformation. We tend to see the end result in our magnificent visions forgetting change requires some dismantling of the old so the new can move in. Sometimes this rearrangement can be painful, but welcomed, as the old way of doing things just isn’t working anymore.
